Vellen
Notes that connect. Yours, in a folder you choose, forever.
Vellen is a notes app built on one conviction: your notes should be plain files you own — readable by any app, in a folder you picked, on your own device. Everything else is built on top of that, never instead of it.
- Plain Markdown files. No proprietary database, no lock-in. Your vault opens in any text editor.
- Notes that link. Wikilinks, backlinks, embeds, tags, and a graph of how your thinking connects.
- More than text. Whiteboards for spatial thinking, boards for tasks, daily notes for the everyday.
- Private sync, if you want it. Optional sync through your own Google Drive with end-to-end encryption — we run no servers and can't read your notes. Or skip it entirely.
- No account. No tracking. No training. The details are in the privacy policy — it's short and it means it.
Vellen and your Google Drive
Vellen's optional sync connects to your own Google
Drive to keep your notes in step across your devices. It uses Google's
narrowest Drive permission (drive.file): Vellen can only see
and manage the sync folder it creates — never the rest of your Drive.
Notes can be end-to-end encrypted before they leave your device, and
nothing is ever sent to us: CapitalCalcs runs no servers, and your Google
data is never collected by, shared with, or visible to anyone but you.
Details in the privacy policy.
Where it runs
macOS, Windows, iPhone, iPad, and Android.
